The voices of your characters are hugely important, especially when you have to compress so much exposition into as little time as you have to tell the story! You want your audience to care about them and understand why other characters in the film would care about them too.
I was delighted when John Hurt agreed to do the voice of Professor Orit. He has such an iconic voice and I was always inspired by his voiceover of Hazel in Watership Down, which remains one of my favourite animated films.
He had a terrible cold when we recorded him in London but he soldiered on in good spirits and was kind enough to pose for a picture afterwards!
For the second character of the film I needed a younger voice, but again it had to be warm & passionate. My first choice was Stuart Townsend who was an old friend from Dublin but has been living out in Los Angeles for over ten years. Stuart did a great job and it was great to catch up for a coffee afterwards.
