Granny O’Grimm launches her very own website!

Irelands bitterest Granny unveils her own website this week as Brown Bag Films launch their latest creation; www.grannyogrimm.com.

Based on Nicky Phelan’s IFTA-winning short film ‘Granny O’Grimm’s Sleeping Beauty’, the website accompanies the forthcoming 26 x 11 minute animated comedy series that will be launched at the Cartoon Forum in Norway on the 22nd of September and at Mipcom, Cannes this October.

Granny O’Grimm is an animated series about a bitter and twisted Irish grandmother telling classic fairytales to her grandchildren. The characters in the fairytales get the full brunt of Granny’s rage at the aging process and her contempt for youth and beauty as she rewrites the stories and gives them the Granny treatment.

The website features film clips, Granny’s agony aunt column and a Granny-style storybook. “This interweb lark will never catch on” said Granny, 78, who has also launched a Facebook page and a Twitter campaign, “but if it does, it’ll give me the chance to insult millions of eejits worldwide and not just in Ballymulch”

Written by Irish comedian Kathleen O’Rourke, ‘Granny O’Grimm’s Sleeping Beauty’ was developed as a short film for the Irish Film Board’s Frameworks scheme. It has since played the international film festival circuit where it has won over 15 international awards. The original short film will have an Irish theatrical release this December.

“Based on the enormous success of the short film, it was an obvious choice to develop it into a television series” said Nicky Phelan, Director of Granny O’Grimm.

Commenting on the new site, Brown Bag Films Cathal Gaffney said “we have developed Granny to work across all screen platforms with podcasts, iPhone games and a ‘Best Granny’ competition to launch in phase two of the site”.

  5. I love Sleeping Beauty. I’ve been re-enacting bits (without the skill of the original, of course) and telling everyone about it. It’s brilliant. Ate yer hart out, Peig Sayers.

  6. I think u are most unkind and unfair when you refer to Granny as a bitter twisted grandmother …. she is telling the truth to her grandchildren about reality . I love her – Rock on granny !
