Brown Bag didn’t bring home the Oscar for Granny O’Grimm (we lost out to French film Logorama), but Nicky, Darragh and the Brown Bag crew celebrated into the night nonetheless. Darragh talked to the Irish Times about his Oscar experience:

Paramount Pictures will feature ‘Granny’ before Neil Jordan’s latest film ‘Ondine’ starring Colin Farrell, and ‘Case 39′ starring Renee Zelwegger, released in cinemas nationwide this weekend.
‘Granny O’Grimm’s Sleeping Beauty’ is now also available to purchase on iTunes, so you can own it to watch whenever you feel the need for a bedtime story with a twist!
RTE TWO will also be airing the short film in advance of the Oscars on Sunday 7th March at 6:10pm.
The Granny O’Grimm gang are currently in LA, which has gone Oscar-mad in the build up to the ceremony on March 7th. All this week they will be visiting studios and attending screenings of the Oscar-nominated films.
A couple of weeks ago, Team Granny O’Grimm’s Hollywood experience kicked off with the Oscar Nominees Luncheon. Each year, all the nominees and their guests attend a lunch and ceremony to acknowledge their nominations. Cathal took a few photos while they were there:

Richie Baneham, Avatar’s animation supervisor, was interviewed on Today FM’s Ray D’Arcy show yesterday about his role in the production of the movie that’s fast becoming the biggest box office success of all time.
Brown Bag receive a large number of requests for work experience placements from school and college students with an interest in animation and art. Unfortunately due to limited places and a very busy production schedule we can’t accommodate everyone, but we try to offer placements to as many students as possible.

Before I applied for work experience at Brown Bag Films, pretty much anything I knew about a real animation studio was from ‘behind the scenes’ of Pixar movies – not all that much. I always wanted to know what it’d be like to work in that environment. As you may have guessed, Granny O’Grimm is not a fan of Christmas. As she said herself on Twitter, the only enjoyment she gets from Christmas is in reminding her grandchildren that Santa has them under constant surveillance – one wrong move and they’re in trouble!

Granny O’Grimm is one step closer to telling those Hollywood stars what she thinks of them, as it was announced that ‘Granny O’Grimm’s Sleeping Beauty’ is shortlisted for Oscar nomination!

The Short Films & Animated Feature members of the Academy will now select 5 nominees from the 10 shortlisted films and the announcement will be on February 2nd 2010.
