Brown Bag Films on Facebook!

As anyone who follows us on Twitter will know, Brown Bag Films now have a Facebook page! You can visit us  at www.facebook.com/brownbagfilms.

We’ve all had a very busy summer here at the studio, so we were treated to a BBQ party at Kobra nightclub as an end-of-summer thank you. We were told that a mystery mode of transport would bring us from Smithfield square to the  BBQ. Nobody had a clue what it would be until we found two Viking Splash bus/boats waiting for us in the square!

Gina Catanzarite writes that “‘Olivia’ is all about diving into life and creating those joyous moments of discovery and pure fun that are the stuff of a happy childhood. For parents who limit their kids’ television viewing, this half hour is a worthwhile investment”.

We’re in the middle of producing of ‘Olivia’ Season 2 for Chorion and Nick Jr – updates coming soon!

Fresh Film Festival Winners

Each year Brown Bag Films judges the animation category for  the Fresh Film Festival. The festival showcases the work of Irish filmmakers under the age of 18, and arranges a programme of youth film events throughout the year.

This year the festival took place from the 22nd – 25th March, and the Brown Bag Animation Award was awarded to Alfie Hollingsworth & Dylan Bickerton (aged 14), for their film ‘Reflection’.

We felt that ‘Reflection’  showed great attention to detail in the set and animation. Though short, the film had a clear, simple concept that  was nicely realised throughout the 2 minutes. The voiceover and music contributed to a touching short film and we were impressed by Alfie and Dylan’s storytelling skill.

We also awarded a Special Commendation to Niall Cunniffe (aged 16)  for his film ‘Dracula’, which was a creative project that showed inventive talent from Niall.

Brown Bag didn’t bring home the Oscar for Granny O’Grimm (we lost out to French film Logorama), but Nicky, Darragh and the Brown Bag crew celebrated into the night nonetheless. Darragh talked to the Irish Times about his Oscar experience:
