I was recently in Shanghai for a week as part of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year annual retreat. I was nominated last year and as one of the alumni I attended the World Expo in Shanghai with over 70 Irish business people, and spent some time meeting local businesses and networking with each other.

The Animation CEO Forum believe that RTÉ are not fulfilling their role as a Public Service Broadcaster by failing to support, develop and fund the Animation sector in Ireland. In the context of the two Academy Award® nominations received this week by Irish animation studios, the Animation CEO Forum RTÉ have spent just €300,000 a year for the past 3 years on animated programmes. This represents less than 1% of the RTÉ spend on independent commissioned programmes. (more…)

What We’re Looking For:
The System Administrator is responsible for installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software related infrastructure. This individual is expected to do technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. Brown Bag Films celebrated Christmas in style last Friday with a Casino night at the Mansion House on Dawson St. We began the festive celebrations on Friday afternoon by popping open a bottle of champagne, pulling a few crackers and opening up our Secret Santa presents from under the office Christmas tree while listening to some festive tunes.

10 Animated Shorts Move Ahead in 2009 Oscar® Race
The film, directed by Nicky Phelan, written and performed by Kathleen O’Rourke and produced by Darragh O’Connell, is shortlisted in the Best Animated Short Film category.
The Short Films & Animated Feature members of the Academy will now select 5 nominees from the 10 shortlisted films and the announcement will be on February 2nd 2010.
