At the end of April leading Smoke Editor/guru Jesse Morrow visited Brown Bag Films for a week of intense hands-on training. Jesse is an old friend of Gillian Higgins, our Head of TV Production, having worked together in LA on various animated TV series. For years we have heard tales of this famous magical Smoke operator who could fix any problem in post production.

We finally tracked down Jesse who is now a leading Smoke/Flame editor at Technicolor New York, working his magic on high end feature films from Spiderman 2 and The Da Vinci Code to Mamma Mia and The Wrestler. Jesse came over to Dublin for a week to give Shane Woods, our main Smoke op, the benefit of his 12 + years experience and to help us improve the way we post our projects.

Jesse also gave good insight into what the Smoke is capable of to all the heads of departments as well as the editing team.
Apart from the training and information we gained from Jesse over the week his visit was worth it just for the tales of working with the stars in New York that were told over a pint or two in Ryans pub. I would like to think Jesse enjoyed himself too and that we’ll see him back here soon. He kindly commented that “After spending a week with Brian, Shane, Gillian and the whole crew at Brown Bag I can definitely say that Ireland has one of the premier animation companies in the world.
